I can understand and appreciate the level of help psychology and philosophy offers to people to solve the pressing dissatisfactions in lives all around the world. Notwithstanding all of its help, it fails to satisfy the quest, hunger and emptiness in man. We need to realize that all of man’s effort is meaningless without the CHRIST JESUS factor. Thus by no means RELIGION but rather the REALITY of LIFE.
Jesus told us “come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest, learn of me, for my yoke is easy and my burden is light. He also said, I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.
The fall of man presented an identity crisis. Ever since the fall of man, the fallen human race has adopted a foreign identity that has kept us in bondage, subject to the things of this world, mostly fear and death. Adam and Eve’s first deficiency after they sinned, was an Identity Crisis.
In Gen 3, they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden. Then the LORD God called to the man, and said to him, “Where are you?”…
Let’s pause and listen to Adams response to God; Adam said, ” I heard the sound of YOU in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself.” And God said, “Who told you that you were naked?
This was where, the Spirit of God began to commune with me.
- Who told you that you are sick and poor?
- Who told you that you had failed in your pursuit of life and purpose?
- Who told you that you have a generational curse?
- Who told you that you can never be forgiven again?
- Who told you that this is the end of your life?
- Who told you that you are all alone?
- Who told you that you will die?
Have you been listening to the words that I commanded you not to listen? (Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?”) These words came to me like fire burning in my heart. Whose report (news) have we believed? The one that says, you don’t have any money in your bank account or the one that says God is able to do (not according to our bank account) but exceeding, abundantly above all we could ever ask or think, according to the power that works in us. Do you believe the human system of measurement that tested and concluded, you have failed or rather believe the word of God that says you are the heard and not the tail?
The word of the Lord came to me saying, there is a vital spiritual war going on every single day of our Christian walk of faith. As it was in the days of old, when cities, nations and kingdoms were conquered by the use of physical armories and swords. In this present day, spiritual wars, are been fought predominately by the use of print and digital media (TV, Radio, Social Media, books and articles etc) to change the original identity of men and women of faith. It’s a battle of WORDS, and remember that words are spiritual. Guard your ears, eyes and heart with all diligence. By your words you will be justified and by your own words you will be condemned.
We must responsibly fight the good fight of faith by actively producing relevant, productive Christian content and materials armed and ready to combat the forces of evil both print and digital media (TV, Radio, Social Media, books and articles etc) through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For it is the POWER of GOD unto Salvation, because therein is the righteousness (the rightness) of God revealed. We must not forget for a second who we are in Christ Jesus least the devil beguiles us like he did in the beginning:
- We are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.
- Jesus became poor that we might be made rich.
- We are the new creation, a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation.
- Christ in us the hope of glory
- If God be for us who can be against us.
- What can separate us from the Love of Christ?…… we are more than conquers.
- We are the light and the salt of the world.
We must not lose focus of our true identity like the first Adam did and was defeated in that all important spiritual battle that for many generations had affected his offspring but, thank God for the coming of Jesus Christ the second and last Adam. As many as believed in HIM to them he gave the right to become the sons of God, which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which lives and abides forever.
How can we have a generational curse when we were born not of blood, nor by the will of man BUT of GOD and by the incorruptible word of God? It’s a wrong identity, we need to reject it entirely and rather accept our generational blessing knowing that we are the seed of Abraham and heirs according to the promise. Beloved, NOW are we the sons of GOD.
How can we believe that God can put sickness and deceases on us to teach us a lesson, when He has clearly stated that “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “good plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future?
When the earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, the world and they that dwell there in, so how did we as a church accept the identity of being “as poor as a church mouse.”
Jesus said “we would receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon us” so why are we so much afraid of the devil and furthermore to exercise our authority in Christ.
These and many more are so because we have lost focus of our true identity in Christ. That identity shows us that everything is possible to him that believes. We must keep looking unto JESUS, (not unto the fallen man) the author and the finisher of our faith.
Here I am, another regular evening after work, listening to Curry Blake, in one of his several audio messages and getting all stirred up in the spirit as my custom is. He always says “the truth will set you free but first, it will make you mad”. It was as though a lightening bow had struck me, when he said. The greatest deliverance you can ever receive is to be delivered from yourself. Topping it up to say “the reason why you feel insulted by someone is because you are full of yourself.” My ears were hearing even more than he was saying because the Holy Spirit began to whisper more. In a split second, all the dots begun to connect, because I realised, that’s the reason: we are not able to walk in the power of the Spirit, our marriages and any other relationships are not working and the root cause of all our spiritual failures.
I pray the eyes of our understanding are enlighten to fully grasp what am about to share on the greatest enemy today, called SELF. “He (Jesus) must increase that I might decrease” says John the Baptist. In Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ [that is, in Him I have shared His crucifixion]; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body I live by faith [by adhering to, relying on, and completely trusting] in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. Predominately we are taught to discover ourselves (our purpose, our destiny, or your ministry) in order to be successful in life. As much as I agree with this teaching to a large extent, if it is left alone, (without Christ Jesus) it becomes the single most destructive thing that hinders, limits and ultimately destroys the Christian walk of faith. The very words of Jesus are “without me you can do nothing.” I realised there is such a thing as Christ Identity which is opposite self-identity. There are enough scriptures to attest that we are not ourselves. When Jesus died, we died with Him and our lives are hid in Christ in God.
The Spirit of God constantly reminds us in the new testament of how full, complete and sufficient we are in Christ Jesus, wanting nothing. That fullness and completeness we have has no need or want for more power, more righteousness, more anointing’s, more of the Spirit, to the extent of more of God. These needs arise when we keep assuming a wrong identity, because the focus is unfortunately on US rather than God. Yet, by strength shall no man prevail. The race is not to the swift neither the battle to the strong. The struggle in prayer and fellowship with God is because, we supposedly enter prayer in our own strength. Been boastful of how long we have prayed, our postures and rhythm and tone of voice used in prayer rather than in the name of Jesus. If you care to study and know, the reason why we were told to pray to the father IN the NAME of JESUS. It has all to do with our identity in Christ, it’s not a religious citation at the end of prayer nor a magic word.
Our Christian walk of faith has everything to do with Christ-Identity and absolutely nothing to do with ourselves. With this background and perspective, a few scriptures have taken on a new wave to me and hopefully they will do same to you by the help of the Holy Spirit.
- In 2 Cor 2:15 – It’s only our identity in Christ that makes us NEW CREATION
- In 1 Cor 6: 17 – Our identity in Christ affirms that we are ONE spirit with the LORD.
- Eph 4:24 – It’s in our identity in Christ that after God, we are created in righteousness and true holiness.
- 1 Peter 2:9 – In Christ Jesus we are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession.
- 1 John 3:1-2 – In Christ Jesus, we are NOW, the sons of God, and when as He is, so are we in this world.
- Col 1:27 – Our identity in Chris shows Christ in us the HOPE of Glory.
- 2 Peter 1: 4 – We are partakers and sharers of God’s divine nature as seen in Christ.
A thorough understanding of this IMAGE of CHRIST affects our efficiency and effectiveness, in either praying to the father or exercising our authority (let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven) as Jesus did on earth. Jesus said the works that I do, shall you do also, even greater works than these because I go to the father. The key to us walking in the supernatural manifestations of the Spirit is simply knowing our Identity in Christ and from that point acting on the word of God. If we would experience the dynamic power of God in our daily lives, we have come to terms with the experiential knowledge of our identity in Christ Jesus.
